Today I accomplished:

-Relaxation from autogenics.  I decided to try this again, and after just doing the breathing I felt a lot more relaxed.  I’m in phase 1, causing my right arm to become heavy.  It was good, I actually felt relaxed and a little released afterward.

-Palming, after the autogenics, felt very nice.

-Lots of Snellen chart reading.   I got to about 10/70 in the low light, and maybe 10/50 in the brighter light (possibly better).  I want to be a little bit better and keep a better log of my Snellen chart results.  I have some of them written in the blog, of course, but it’s not quick to read through.   I’m also not sure how to compare because a lot of my older readings are in full sunshine (really bright outside, beautiful 70 degree weather).  So I’m not sure how much better I’m doing, if at all.

-Ate some liver today.  I had some a couple of days ago, too.  It didn’t taste as good reheated, but it wasn’t bad.  I have lots of beef liver–good source of zinc and vitamin A.   Right now, night time is a just swirly mass of bright and blurry lights, so I hope that these foods help.  I believe I’ve read that when your myopia is higher, a lot of it will be caused by vitamin deficiency.   So I will keep eating that.

Desires for up to tomorrow:

-do some more autogenics breathing before going to sleep so that I can have a more relaxed sleep

-Snellen, of course.

-eating liver

-doing some eye rotations (as in DeAngelis’ book)

Today I accomplished:
-Snellen chart work. I did this a lot today, starting from the morning (A) soon after the sunrise, in midday (B), and for about an hour until sunset (C).
A–I was about 9 feet away, don’t recall how I did–but it wasn’t too great as I didn’t have so much light.
I remember it got darker when I palmed for a bit.
B–Midday, my best, of course. I got my ~7.5/10. The nice thing was how easy it was to clear the top lines. Almost instantly I had the 40, 30 line and it only took me a little bit longer to get 15, then 10. I found that encouraging. It goes in and out very quickly, one blink it’s blurry, the next the chart has cleared whatever I was looking at. So I think this is a speed thing. Clear vision is swift, changes focus quickly, whereas blurry vision will take longer. I hope to make it more constant–by which I mean faster.
C–At times I got ~7.5/15 but it got more difficult as it got darker. I was doing okay at ~7.5/30 for awhile.
After the sun completely set, I couldn’t clear to the 70 line at all.

I’m noting pain still when it’s really bright and the sun is shining directly on the white paper of the chart.
I noticed some twitching under my left eye after doing Snellen work.

-After the sun set, I got my book and looked at it. I was “spacing” the words, by looking at the white space between the words and under the line. This involved some oddity with my left eye not seeing it as well as my right, I did eyepatch things for a little to try to switch on my left eye more.

-Intermittent palming, while reading chart, etc

-Heated eye bag. I was having trouble with the dry eye again–which is making me want to take a break from Snellen, and I had a new theory. The theory was that the dryness was actually a sort of symptom of more blood being in the eye area, or the eye ‘asking’ for more blood. As such, it’s not real dryness, but something else. I could make my eyes water by gagging myself, but I found that the eye would be dry soon afterward. I thought that the eye bag would help because the heat would call blood to the area.
It also may be the case that I don’t blink correctly. I’ve been thinking about it today, and I hear a noise when opening my eyes, or they feel like they are sticky. I’m trying to blink softly and correctly, but I’m not sure I’m doing it right! I also have a problem with blinking my right eye before my left, like some sort of muscle spasm.

-I practiced some video game stuff WOG
-I’ve been practicing reading in normal artificial lighting
-Ate well today! Chicken, sauerkraut, chicken soup, spinach and rice, strawberries. Sauerkraut is terrible tasting, but being that it’s cheap, easy to make, and so healthy, I plan to eat more. I’m sure it’s a bit of an acquired taste.
-WOG today, except for like a minute when I was showing a friend the ones I’d just gotten.. Going WOG makes me feel very proud!

Tomorrow I am going back up North! I will be on a plane for a few hours. My plan is to palm on the plane, if possible, and while I’m waiting around at the airport. I get tired or restless though, if I am telling myself that I am going to palm for a certain amount of time. I tried palming last night and ended up kicking my legs around the whole time. But I think this is the best thing for helping with the dry eye and soothing them.
My eyes are quite tired after all the Snellen I’ve been doing today. Should that be so? Or should I feel more relaxed and my eyes should feel more energized? Maybe it is because I didn’t keep the relaxation for very long, just for a moment or so as I cleared the line. Anyway, I hope that I will learn to keep it longer.
Exhaustion…

I made lamb bone broth and baked some lamb liver in it. It was really good, until it got cold. I can’t stand liver to be cold (or mushy, which is why I hate pate). But there was this one guy who kept asking what we had, and I told him (we also had some turkey broth around) and he made all these disgusted faces. We also had borrowed a baking pan, which belonged to a girl who was a vegetarian. She asked what we made and I told her, proudly. Her response? “That’s…nice”.
So it’s pretty funny to me. Yum, liver. The lamb liver is excellent, much better than the pig’s liver :) .
Also, I went to the chiropractor today, he gave me some exercises to do to help stretch my neck and back. And also he taught me how to stand up after sitting in the proper way. Yay! I’ll have to do those after break. When he cracked my neck, I could feel my face flush, I think my sinuses might have pressure in them from being sick (getting healthier, I hope…). So hopefully that will release my eye a bit.

Today: Snellen (sort of), chiropractor’s, nap, liver

Let’s see, I did a tiny bit of Snellen work, but not in a good way.  I wore my reduced -4.5 glasses, stood about 5 feet away from the chart.  I could read through to the 15 line without making a mistake, although it got tricky and was a bit blurry.  So 5/10 seems to be the limit at the moment, 5/15 at tops.  This is not the point of the Snellen practice, though, but I tried to relax, swing, and centralize.  I don’t think glasses will allow me to do this properly.  It’s pretty late right now, but I will try to do some in the morning.

Had a chiropractor’s appointment today again.  I told him that I was having some headaches, more frequently than I’m accustomed to having them.  He said it was some sort of muscle spasm and I took from that that it seemed to be some sort of adjustment since my body isn’t used to being aligned this way.  He said use moist heat and to keep him updated if the headaches really started to bother me–keep track of the frequency and duration and intensity.  Probably a hot shower will help if they come around.

I napped today, too, for about an hour.  I was woken at 2:40 when my chiropractor’s appointment is at 3:00 so I was really worried about being late.  There might be a bus strike in my city so I wonder how I’m going to get to the appointments if something like that happens.

I was so exhausted this afternoon, because we had made lots of food things: walnut cookies, scrambled eggs, and I had strained my kefir.  We had therefore used a ton of plates and things, so I ended up having to wash most of that stuff and I just got tired walking back and forth to the room carrying different kitchen items.  Being a college student is troublesome for my cooking.  Maybe I should move to an apartment next semester.  But then, my kitchen would never get cleaned.  I’m a terrible slob, and I only clean the communal kitchen because there’s so many people that use it.

I ate liver today!  It was some leftover pig’s liver with some bacon.  Surprisingly, it didn’t go bad.  I had to figure out how to use my toaster oven.  I sold my microwave recently :) and obtained a free toaster oven.  I didn’t want to use a microwave oven anymore because I’d heard how high heat denatures and destroys nutrients in food.  So for like “normal” food it’s okay to use a microwave, but for my special super nutritious liver I’d never do that.  Sitting around for 20 minutes until it got hot wasn’t fun, but that’s fine.  That was only done because the toaster oven is pretty old and dirty and we heard some popping and saw some smoke coming out of it so we had to fix it up to make sure it worked right.  I won’t have to do that everytime!

I really should eat more liver or at least start taking cod liver oil again (I ran out).  Maybe I’ll order some, but I’m travelling a lot because of the Thanksgiving and winter break so I’ll not be in the dorm–it’s all tricksy.   I think I can get liver over the winter break because my mom will get me it.  I’m not sure she’ll prepare it the ways I want though, and might not approve of the way I’ll want to do it.  But I can’t eat liver if it’s too strong.  I can’t help it, I just get a gag reflex.  LIVER.

I’m sort of scared of going away to Thanksgiving break.  Leaving my glasses behind doesn’t seem so exciting right now.  I haven’t even packed :(

I want to talk about these spells of dizziness, unbalance, and falling I sometimes have but maybe I’ll leave that for another post.

LIVER is IMPORTANT.
